THE FUNHOUSE COMMONS BOARD OF DIRECTORS
Jim Cook, President – Jim is a retired Naval Officer (pilot) after serving for 30 years. His last Navy assignment was as Professor and Joint Military Operations Department Chair at the Naval War College in Newport RI. He first visited Orcas in 1971 while helping a friend move to Victoria BC, and became a permanent islander in 2011. Jim got involved with The Funhouse after a close friend, Abby Rueb, invited him to join the Board.
Jamie Cier, Treasurer – Jamie and her partner, Jef, moved to Orcas Island in 2012 with their cat Inky. Jamie is currently the manager at Washington Federal and deals with many families and employees with children who rely on The Funhouse for after-school programs, mentoring and just plain fun. Being a board member is a great way to support such a key piece of the community.
Lorena Stankevich – Lorena received her Bachelors of Music Education from Western Washington University, and holds a Masters of Education. She is the Principal of Orcas Island Elementary School and is recognized as the 1st National Board Certified Teacher in the District. Lorena moved to Orcas Island in 2005, with her husband, Dimitri, Executive Director for YMCA Camp Orkila and their daughter, Daria. They are very involved in the community and love living on Orcas Island.
Dan Walker has a background in home building and non-profit performing arts production, and has been building anything and everything for the past 20 years. Dan and his family moved to the island in August 2015, and his two kids attend many of the programs at The Funhouse.
Meagan Gable, Vice President – Meagan has years of experience working with and advocating for youth and families. She truly believes in the mission at The Funhouse and is excited to contribute to the Orcas community.
Susan Hubbard is a retired fundraising executive, a child advocate and dedicated community volunteer.
THE FUNHOUSE COMMONS TEAM
Maureen Moran, Executive Director – Maureen moved from Seattle to Orcas Island with her family in 2016. Her two children participate in many Funhouse programs. She has a background in administrative and operational management and theater. Maureen is passionate about being part of The Funhouse and meeting the needs of the amazing kids who make it so meaningful. Maureen@thefunhouse.org
Emilie Gincig, Program Director – Emilie has lived on Orcas Island for most of her life. She has previously worked at local preschools, and has been at The Funhouse since 2013. She loves working with kids, and loves The Funhouse. Emilie@thefunhouse.org
Sarah McKay, After School Coordinator & Lead Staff – Sarah grew up in Seattle and has spent summers with family on the island since she was a child. She has fond memories of visiting The Funhouse Commons when she was a teenager. Outside of work she has been restoring a historical family home which she lives in with her partner, 3 cats and a dog. Jen Vollmer, Community Outreach & Development Manager – Jen has worked for nonprofits since high school, but has found the most joy working at The Funhouse, serving our supporters and Orcas Island kids since 2007. She has a MA in Museum Studies from John F. Kennedy University (Orinda, CA). Jen@thefunhouse.org
Trillium Swanson, Mentor & Volunteer Program Coordinator- Trillium moved to Orcas from Bellingham in 2015, and has been involved with The Funhouse ever since. She is a masters-level associate mental health counselor, and works with youth, families and individuals in her nature-based private practice.
