We’re excited to offer Orcas Island Middle School students a chance to socialize and connect at The Funhouse this summer. And why yes, we will have ice cream & music! Masks and social distancing will be required and group size is limited to 20 students on a first-come, first-served basis. Come join us Wednesdays at 6pm! For questions and info about pick-up/drop-off, please email Liz@thefunhouse.org
Funhouse staff have been working on creating fun, themed, activities that you can do at home throughout the week geared for children ages 6-12 (but all activities can be adapted for younger and older kids)!
Activities range from Arts & Crafts, to thought-provoking questions, to fun games the whole family can enjoy. We have created a closed Facebook group where our campers can interact and share activities with each other and Funhouse staff Did we mention that remote camp is FREE?!
Ali, 31 and Serafina, 13 have been matched for about 2 years now. Serafina was involved in other programs at the Funhouse and eventually became aware of the mentor program. “One of my favorite things about having a mentor is having someone to talk to”, says Serafina, and Ali wholeheartedly agrees!
As part of their agreement through the Funhouse mentor program, they have committed to spend at least 4 hours a month together, doing an activity of their choice. At the beginning of COVID things changed for a bit and they were meeting virtually once a week. Now, they are able to safely get out again and are enjoying nature walks, either on the trails or beaches.
We’ll be going online on September 20th, 2020 for 3 days of online fundraising. We’re sad to have to postpone our in-person 20th Anniversary bash until another time, but in the meantime we could really use your support for island kids. Stay tuned for updates!
We know there’s a lot of uncertainty about what will happen with schools in September. We are committed to serving the urgent needs of Orcas Island youth, and are currently planning for what this will look like. We will share more with you as soon as we can.
We’re celebrating 20 years of existence! Learn how we began and how we’ve transformed to meet the needs of our community.
